“The act of gazing at something for a long time
may be a secret key that opens the door
to our inner world.
We depart from JamSil Station in Seoul by bus,
and travel to YangYang, GangWon-do
a place embraced by beautiful mountains
and the sea for a journey inward.”
Would you like to take a trip to YangYang?
How about a quiet walk along the seaside,
followed by a moment of mindfulness through
picture book meditation?
A journey that delights your eyes and your palate
and nourishes your heart as well.
Set off on a mindfulness journey to YangYang.
The Picture Book Mindfulness Course is a meditation program that uses picture books where words and images exist in harmony to cultivate awareness and insight, and to support the design of a new way of living.
Through reading poetry and picture books alongside mindfulness meditation, participants gently explore the underlying causes of what has been
creating inner struggle.
This process helps participants understand
the psychological patterns that have caused distress,
and discover ways to live
with greater freedom,
confidence, and self-trust.
The course trains participants
to become aware of sensations,
emotions, thoughts, and intentions arising
in both body and mind.
Centered on key themes
of picture book meditation
[Pause – Presence – Acceptance – Self-Compassion – Gratitude]
participants experience
deep awareness and insight.
As the quality of awareness
and attention deepens, participants
are guided toward self-care
and the opening of a more creative,
mindful life.
At a forest café in YangYang,
we sit facing the mountains
and experience a guided meditation through picture books
with a picture-book meditation expert.
From Seoul to YangYang,
and between each destination within YangYang, we travel comfortably
in a specially prepared vehicle,
allowing us to fully focus
on the scenery and ourselves.
We embrace, with our whole being,
the sense of calm
that YangYang’s nature offers as a gift.
Arriving in YangYang,
we take a slow walk along the quiet NamAe 1-ri
fishing village beach, overlooking the sea.
At NamAe Port and YangYang Traditional Market,
we capture the vibrant daily life
of fishermen and local vendor.
A vast stretch of white sand opens up
the heart and mind.
Instead of flashy cafés,
fishermen’s homes line the shore,
and wild roses bloom in abundance across the beach.
The lively energy of the fishing village fills Namae Port.
We carry with us the diligence
we admire and the vibrant spirit
of a healthy life.
At Yangyang Traditional Market,
you can experience both the mountains
and the sea of Gangwon Province.
After strolling through the market,
we enjoy lunch featuring
the flavors of Gangwon.
<Lunch on your own>
After a hearty meal,
we board the bus again.
The scenery outside the window quickly shifts
from the sea to the forest.
FARM11 is a forest café nestled
on the mid-slopes
of YangYang’s mountains.
The layered ridges
and the café’s garden
blend together beautifully.
After spending time in quiet contemplation of nature,
we begin a meditative journey through picture books.
Inside a fairytale-like building,
a humanities-based healing program unfolds,
combining picture books and meditation.
Through images,
participants become aware of their own emotions
and are gently guided to reflect on their inner selves.
